Gina Hunter is a retired public school teacher. She had been an educator for over 20 years. She is recently worked as a GATE Itinerant Teacher with Tucson Unified School District. Gina has a bachelor's degree in Psychology, and a minor in Family Studies. She also has a master's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language.

 

She is a certified K-8 teacher with endorsements in Gifted Instruction, English Language instruction, and Early Childhood education. Prior to teaching, Gina served in the Air Force, as a Medical Lab Technician. She has also worked as a bus driver, caregiver and stay at home mom.

Gina loves to dedicate time to her community. She has served as a Bible School teacher, Women's Ministry worker, and a Director of Communication with AFRI, a nonprofit that supports a village in Africa, by providing a hospital, orphanage, school, microgrants and more.

​

 

As a teacher, Gina continually produced excelling students. She received an EEF Award for Excellence in Education and has been on the Exemplar Teacher List for several years. During her career as a teacher, she has served as a track and cross-country coach, yearbook editor, webmaster, and mentor. Gina has taken on leadership roles as a mentor for the U of A School of Education I.C.A.T. program and Co-director of the 21st Century After School Program.

Gina believes that everyone has the ability to do great things. She feels well versed in not only finding the positive traits in others, but also in helping them to cultivate their hopes and dreams. Gina thrives on helping others and longs to make an even bigger difference in her community.
